SWOYAMBHUNATH STUPA: - Atop a green hillock west of Kathmandu, at
the point where the legendary patriarch MANJUSHRI discovered the lotus
of the ancient valley lake, stands the great stupa of SWOYAMBHUNATH. It
was an important center of Buddhist learning, closely linked with Lhasa.
The great stupa of SWOYAMBHUNATH is an architectural model of its kind.
It is the center of religious harmony in Nepal. The visitors can have
the excellent look over view of the KATHMANDU Valley from this heritage
site. There is just a little doubt that this sacred site was established
more than 2,500 years ago.
